How badly is your country getting screwed over on car prices?

I'm being shouted out by Corvette fans for moaning about how in the UK the car has a 100% premium over the US price however a wider look at things shows that we are being screwed pretty much across the board.

So I say a 9/10. Only our brilliantly cheap used car market is preventing this from being a 10.

8/10. Fairly high insurance (at least, for me) and higher vehicle costs than the United States (even though a lot of cars are made here, then shipped to the States) in almost all cases.

Oh, Canada.

127,000 euro, or 100,000 gbp, or 157,000 usd.

On top of that, road tax of about 1000 euros per year. And gas costs 1.55 euro per liter, which translates to 7.2 usd/gallon. Insurance isn't cheap either, but I think not quite as bad as the UK.

So yeah, dutch people have it worse. But hey, we can get everywhere we want by bike!

10/10. 100% import tax makes new cars pretty expensive. High road tax, US$10.4 a gallon petrol and expensive housing means that only the affluent rich get to buy and drive cars. You almost never see young drivers in Hong Kong because they just can't afford it.

I think it's about the same if you take into account our higher taxes in Canada. But it is more expensive across the board.

I think it's more evident in the used car market. When people talk about used car prices in the States and then I reference them to what I see in Canada, it's close to 1.5 times as expensive in Canada from what I can tell.

canada gets it pretty bad,

our car prices are way higher then the USA (you guys get a 21K focus ST, ours is 30. WTF)

our used car prices are similar (anything running and driving is 1500, easy)

and our insurance...oih boi. our fucking insurance. its like 4 times what your guys pay. The USA actualy has it pretty freaking easy when it comes to cars. AND a lot of you dont live in the rust belt. Only think canada has over britain or europe in general is gas prices closer to the US. but its STILL more expensive up here.
